    First Take
The Jaguar XK8 is the latest in a long tradition of Jaguar coupes and convertibles. Although the car dates back to 1997, the V8 and five-speed automatic are about as smooth as they get. Handling is not geared to be as agile as that of a sports car, but the car is athletic enough with precise, responsive steering. The supple, controlled ride is gracious, befitting the mark. The cabin is furnished with plenty of wood and aromatic leather. Two kids can fit in the small rear seats.
