    Road Test

Saab's redesigned 9-5 doesn't measure up to similarly priced competitors. Yes, it's got great fit and finish, fairly nimble handling, and a large trunk -- but that's where the good news ends. The turbocharged four-cylinder engine is noisy and a little weak for this class, while offering no advantage in fuel economy. The ride is stiff, the cockpit cramped, and it has restricted visibility for the driver.
