Generac GP6500 COSENSE 50ST
In November 2022 and again in April 2026, certain Generac portable generators were recalled for multiple safety hazards. An unlocked handle can pinch consumers’ fingers against the generator frame when the unit is moved, posing finger amputation and crushing hazards. In addition, fuel can leak from the carburetor when the generator is first filled with gasoline, posing fire and burn hazards that could result in serious injury or death.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled generators unless the handle locking pin has been inserted to secure the handle before and after moving the unit. Consumers should also check whether their generator is included in the fuel-leak recall and, if so, contact Generac to arrange a free repair. Generac can be reached toll-free at (844)-242-3493 or (800) 396-9951 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or online at www.generac.com/handlespacer, www.generac.com/about/recalls/GP-Carburetor, or www.generac.com by clicking on “Important Safety/Recall Information.”
