    EV Battery

    What Owners Say

Electric/hybrid battery pack malfunction (didn't need replacement)

"The battery dies in a short period of time if I don't use the car frequently. This is a serious design flaw. Every time I go out of town on a vacation now, I have to disconnect the battery. Every time I return from a trip I have to go under the hood with a wrench and reconnect the battery. Even with all of these extra precautions, I still do not feel confident that the vehicle will work when I return from a trip. What a nuisance!"

Anonymous, CA (2017 Toyota Prius ECO 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
    Electric/hybrid battery pack replacement

"Battery died. This was a fairly new battery that replaced the original battery.it had an 80,000 mile warranty so the dealership replaced it at no charge."

Anonymous, MA (2017 Toyota Prius Two 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Starter Battery was five years old"

Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Prius Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Prius Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
    Other electric/hybrid battery problem

"12 volt battery replaced for $395. Not an extremely serious problem, but required towing because car would not start without working 12 volt."

Anonymous, CA (2017 Toyota Prius Four 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    Noises And Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other noises & leaks problem

"From purchase on, the road noise on rough, gravel-topped, or grooved pavement has been extremely loud. The baffling is inadequate. One cannot listen to the radio without having to turn it up way too high."

Anonymous, OH (2017 Toyota Prius Four Touring 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
    Squeaks or rattles

"It rattles coming from the dashboard"

Anonymous A., CA (2017 Toyota Prius Unsure 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    "Not resolved"

Anonymous A., FL (2017 Toyota Prius Unsure 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"I drove the new vehicle home with the rattle in the dashboard. When I called the dealership's service department on the way home, the tech said no problem, "We've three years (the warranty period) to get that fixed for you." Well, that dealership couldn't fix it and neither could two others. It is intermittent, I'll admit, but it's maddening when it's rattling. I contacted Southeast Toyota and got a corporate trouble ticket/code/I can't remember the exact term. They contacted the dealership nearest to me that actually did the most thorough attempt to fix the rattle, but gave up a couple of years ago, because nobody can fix it. It is not as frequent as before, but still occasionally rattles most annoyingly."

Anonymous, FL (2017 Toyota Prius Three 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

    "Not resolved"

    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Hardware replacement

"The screen was not working right and the person who looked at my car when I drove into the garage said that it acted the same as his did and it just needed to have a sensory placed. But then mine was completely bad and it was a $1,900.00 repair. I've had this car 5 years. The latch broke. There are paint chips off of the paint between my rear seat and my trunk the finish has come off of every hubcap. I've had more problems with this car than the other Toyota Prius I had for 10 years of it is just cheap parts. The part that broke on the the hood and had to replace the hat was a galvanized rusting spring. I was told they replaced with a new different latch so had to be replaced. These are all cheap little parts except for the screen that was almost $2,000 most of the things that have weren't wrong with my car is simply cheap parts"

Anonymous, PA (2017 Toyota Prius Unsure 1.8-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
