    First Take
This is a luxury version of the Ford Expedition, with a plusher, warmer interior. It's powered by a smoother V8 as well. With a fully-independent suspension and lower step-in height, access is easier than in the previous generation. The power-operated split third-row seat folds flat into the floor by pressing a button. The cabin is quiet, and both ride and handling are significantly improved over the old version. The steering is responsive and the ride supple. The center section of the 40/20/40 second-row seat slides forward so a child can sit closer to front-seat passengers. Access to the unusually comfortable and roomy third-row bench is also greatly improved. Reliability since the redesign has been poor.
