If you’re planning to replace your mattress this year, you won’t have to pay full price. March 9 to 15 is the National Sleep Foundation’s Sleep Awareness Week, which means there are some great sales on brands like Beautyrest, Brooklyn Bedding, Helix, Leesa, and more.
Most mattresses tend to be advertised as "on sale" all year long, but for bigger events like this, the sale prices are often 5 to 10 percent better. You’re never really saving as much as they advertise, but when you shop these sale moments, you actually do save versus buying outside of a holiday weekend, and when brands extend their sales, you get a few more days to take advantage of the improved prices.
There are also some great discounts on everything you’ll need for a great night’s sleep, including pillows, sheets, sleep masks, and other accessories CR has evaluated.
Plus, this month, Consumer Reports is holding our first Member Appreciation Week from March 11 -18. For this special event, we’ve partnered with 14 brands whose products have excelled in our tests to bring our Digital and All-Access members exclusive offers not available to the general public. This includes a handful of top mattress brands that you’ll see below, and the full list can be found here.
For more information on mattresses, see CR’s mattress buying guide. CR members can check out our mattress ratings to see how well more than 200 models do in our tests for supporting people of all sizes, whether you sleep on your side or your back. Our mattress selector can also help you narrow down your choices.
The Avocado Green, currently matching its Black Friday price, performs superbly in our support tests for all sizes and sleep positions, except for petite side sleepers, where it still rates better than most. The mattress is made with recycled steel-pocketed coils, GOLS-certified latex foam, and a GOTS-certified organic cotton cover. It receives only a middling score for stabilization, however, so if you don’t like much bounce or motion transfer, this mattress might not be the one for you. With a firmness score of 7 out of 10, it’s among the stiffer mattresses we’ve tested.
CR members can save an extra $100 on any purchase of $1,000 or more on the brand’s site until March 18. To get the discount, click on the Get Offer button above. Once you meet the minimum threshold, the discount will apply to your cart.
The Avocado Eco Organic innerspring mattress-in-a-box earns solid ratings in our tests for support for side and back sleepers. With a firmness score of 4 out of 10, it’s a much softer alternative to the Avocado Green mattress (which rates a 7 and also doesn’t retain heat) and even the Avocado Green Pillowtop (which rates a 5 and does retain heat). In our member surveys, Avocado innerspring mattresses earn very good ratings for both comfort and owner satisfaction.

Saatva is known for being a high-end option for sleepers, and the HD is the best innerspring option in its lineup, according to CR’s tests. Right now, the only sale for the general public is a 15 percent discount if you bundle it with one of Saatva’s bedding bundles (including different combinations of mattress pads, sheets and pillows). It earns the CR Recommended badge for its above-average performance for all sleeping styles and body sizes, and it got a perfect score for durability, so you can rest easy knowing this mattress will last.
CR members can save a bit more, however. Use the Get Offer button to get $410 off any purchase of $1,000 or more at Saatva through March 18. The discount will automatically be applied when you check out.
The Solaire mattress by Saatva is made with certified organic materials and is an all-around crowd-pleaser, with above-average results in just about every area, including nice support for all sleep positions and sizes, as well as good stabilization. It also excels when it comes to durability. As a brand, Saatva keeps its users quite content in terms of both comfort and owner satisfaction. As mentioned in the listing for the HD mattress above, Saatva’s current sale is exclusively a 15 percent discount for bundled purchases of mattresses and bedding.

The Helix Sleep Midnight Luxe is 25 percent off for its March Madness sale—this is the typical discount we see for larger sale moments. Finding the right mattress for your sleeping style can be tricky, but in our tests, the Midnight Luxe is a great choice for people of all sizes, whether they sleep on their back or side. One thing to note about this mattress is that it’s 14 inches high, so you’ll need deep-pocket sheets.
The Birch Natural mattress is still 25 percent off for Presidents Day with the code PRES25, beating its Early Access sale by 5 percent. This translates to nearly $100 more in savings on the queen mattress. It does well in CR’s tests, and if you’re a petite side sleeper, it may be an exceptional choice. It got top scores in our tests for that category. It scored above average for all other sleepers, except large and tall side sleepers, who may want to look to other models.
Brooklyn Bedding has mattresses, pillows, and mattress toppers, sheets, and more. CR has tested a handful of the brand’s products, including the Signature Hybrid mattress, which is on sale with the code WINTER25. This model is an exceptional choice for petite side sleepers, as it got top marks in that category. And folks with other body types and sleep styles may be happy with it as well, as it scored above average in all our other tests.
We saw the discount reach 30 percent for Presidents Day weekend, and it may hit that same price again for Memorial Day if you’d rather wait a bit longer to potentially save an additional $60.
The Essentia Stratami is one of the top performers in CR’s tests, especially if you sleep on your back. Mattress shoppers who come to Essentia for organic materials won’t be disappointed in the performance of the company’s natural rubber latex-based foam. This mattress performed excellently for petite and average-sized back sleepers. Large/tall back sleepers and all side sleepers will find very good performance as well.
The Sleep Week discount of 22 percent is marginally better than the typical sale price of $3,080, granting buyers an extra $77 off.
If you’re looking for an affordable firm mattress, the Serta Sheer Slumber mattress fits the bill. It lands a 9 out of 10 on our firmness scale, and with a (full) price under $500, it’s one of the more affordable foam mattresses in our ratings. Overall, this mattress-in-a-box offers impressive support for most sleepers with the exception of large side sleepers, who can expect only average support. Serta foam mattresses receive so-so scores for comfort and predicted reliability, according to CR’s member surveys.
