Straus Family Creamery Organic Ice Cream Recalled Because It May Contain Metal Fragments
The ice cream was sold in 17 states
Straus Family Creamery announced a recall of five flavors of its organic ice cream—cookie dough, Dutch chocolate, mint chip, strawberry, and vanilla bean—because the dessert may contain metal pieces. No injuries have been reported.
The recalled products have “best by” dates in December 2026 (see the list below) and were sold in stores beginning on May 4, 2026. The ice cream was shipped to stores in 17 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin.

Check your freezer, says James E. Rogers, PhD., director of food safety at Consumer Reports, and throw out any ice cream that has been recalled. “Even if you look carefully at the ice cream in the container, it’s possible that you wouldn’t see the metal pieces if they’re present,” he says. “Not only might they harm your teeth and mouth, but they could also cause choking, especially in younger children.”
