Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2024 Toyota Tundra owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

What Owners Say

Display screen freezes up

"Every once in a while, maybe two or three times a month, I have to turn off and then turn on the vehicle to clear a problem with the navigation system not responding or acting strange. No persistent problem after turning back on except one time had to manually enter a destination because the system did not recognize a recent or favorite destination. The resolution would most likely involve replacing the control board and that is too much trouble."

Anonymous A., TX (2024 Toyota Tundra 1794 3.4-L V6 hybrid)
External music device interface (e.g., smart phone, MP3 player)

""constant lose connection with phone, car play navigation loses connection constantly, drops phone calls, etc.""

Anonymous, LA (2024 Toyota Tundra Limited 3.4-L V6 turbo)
Other in-car electronics problem

""1. Fuel system - periodicaly the fuel quantity display will show a full tank when engine is started even though there may be 300 miles since the last fill up, and the quantity was at 1/4 tank when the engine was shut off. 2. Auto engine shutoff - periodically the automaic engine shut off when coming to a stop will start back up and state charging the battery, even though the only thing on is the radio, no A/C or other large electrical draws; or it will simply say not available; or climate conditions; or enviromental. The last three the engine does not automatically shut off.""

Anonymous, AZ (2024 Toyota Tundra Limited 3.4-L V6 turbo)

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

What Owners Say

Squeaks or rattles

""The door seals on the front two doors create a rubbing sound in the interior of the cabin at low speeds. Took to dealer twice, they replaced weather stripping but that didnt fix the issue. I bought weather stripping from Amazon and fixed it myself. The headline also pops and cracks at various temperatures above the driver.""

Anonymous A., VA (2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum 3.4-L V6 turbo)

"When you roll down the back window the glass rattles as you drive making an unpleasant sound."

Anonymous A., VA (2024 Toyota Tundra Platinum 3.4-L V6 turbo)

Brakes

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

What Owners Say

Parking brake

"This vehicle has an automatic electric parking brake. Even though I have selected manual operation (not connected to the gear shift), the parking brake will automatically apply if the vehicle is shifted to park while the brake hold function is active. While the brake hold can activate the parking brake, the brake hold is not supposed to be active except in the Drive gear shift position. To resolve, I must turn off the brake hold when shifting to Park. Full resolution my require replacing the control board, which is too much trouble."

Paint/Trim

Paint (fading, chalking, peeling, or cracking), loose interior or exterior trim or moldings, rust.

What Owners Say

Loose exterior trim or moldings

"The trim around the rear right side window kept coming loose. This was a problem from the very beginning. We took the truck to the dealership on 3 different occasions and they kept saying they had to wait for a part to come in before they could fix it. My husband got tired of this and fixed it himself. The problem was that the trim was never fully seated in the clip. It just needed to be pushed down until it clicked in place. Duh, this does not bode well for Toyota service departments."
