Anonymous, AZ (2019 Toyota RAV4 LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

""About a year ago, the electric hatch door began malfunctioning, not opening, opening partially, etc. My independent garage was unable to fix it, so I took it to the dealer where I bought the car. Two hours and $200 later they were unable to fix the problem, which still persists, but didn't offer me a refund, just a credit toward basically replacing the entire door mechanics, a very expensive repair that I was unwilling to do.""

Anonymous A., QC (2019 Toyota RAV4 XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Rear wheel bearings"

Anonymous, WI (2019 Toyota RAV4 Unsure 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

What Owners Say

Android Auto

"I was told when I bought the car that it has Android Auto but no one can get it to work"

Anonymous, MA (2019 Toyota RAV4 XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"The software update dropped Android Auto, after several visits to dealership was told Android AUto is no longer supported for the model year and I had to switch to an I-Phone. The problem began less than a year after purchased new and was told several different issues and paid for several service calls only to finally, fours years later give up and switch to an I-phone. Service people were ill informed of the telephone pairing issue which frustrated me, and finally being forced to either buy a new car or a new phone I reluctantly switch to an I-phone."

Anonymous A., OK (2019 Toyota RAV4 XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Apple CarPlay

""I have complaint to the dealer, the Bluetooth is inconsisitent, the phone does not connect correctly and people complain that they cannot hear me. I have to conecte and disconnect the car play and or the call.""

Anonymous A., PA (2019 Toyota RAV4 Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Hardware replacement

Anonymous, MA (2019 Toyota RAV4 Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

Anonymous, PA (2019 Toyota RAV4 Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Radio

"The entire Entertainment system needed to be replaced."

Anonymous, NY (2019 Toyota RAV4 XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Voice control commands

""Suddenly lost all capability to communicate verbally with text, AppleCarplay, etc. Hands free messaging was impossible, potentially a safety issue and definitely frustrating. Dealership anaylsis showed the associated transceiver was non-functional. Problem began in December 2024. Problem repaired in May 2025. Repair cost in the neighborhood of $1200.00. Replacement tranceiver is newer generation unit than the original equipment---makes me wonder if the earlier revision tranceiver was found to be defective. I did ask Toyita if they would be doing a root cause failure investigation on my defective transceiver; however, I received no reply.""

Anonymous, PA (2019 Toyota RAV4 Adventure 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

"Voice control is terrible. It quite often calls someone that I didn't want to call instead of the person I wanted to call"

Anonymous, MA (2019 Toyota RAV4 XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

Noises/Leaks

Squeaks, rattles, wind noises, seals and/or weather stripping, air and water leaks.

What Owners Say

Air or water leaks

"When it rains water leaks into the doors from the closed windows. The rubber seal also allows leaves to fall inside the closed door. Water then builds up inside the door sloshing around. I originally thought the leaves were blocking the drainage hoke in the door. But I then realized that the rubber seal was actually blocking the drainage hole. I can pull the bottom of the door rubber seal away from the drainage hole and the water will flow out the drainage hole. I have to do this to two doors consistently to keep the water from building up inside the doors and causing potential damage or interior door rust."

Anonymous, NC (2019 Toyota RAV4 LE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Other noises & leaks problem

"The roof rails were leaking and dealer fixed free of charge."

Anonymous A., IL (2019 Toyota RAV4 Adventure 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Seals and/or weather-stripping

"roof rack leak required all wiring harness be replaced. rear doors fill up with water due to door seals. new zipping sound developed when brack or accelerate."

Anonymous, TN (2019 Toyota RAV4 Adventure 2.5-L 4 Cyl)
Squeaks or rattles

"There is a noise in the rear of my car when I go over bumps which stared happening after a tire rotation. Dealership claims they can not replicate the problem and do not see any issues."

Anonymous, MA (2019 Toyota RAV4 Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

""At highway speed there is often a loud rattling type sound that appears to be coming out of the rear, at speeds 55mph or higher. This has been going on for years. It is not getting any worse, but it is not going away. After discussing with my mechanic he does not believe it is a wheel bearing or drivetrain issue. Probably some fitting or flap rattling underneath. I never had the (Toyota) dealer try to troubleshoot the issue. I can live with it, but it is quite annoying. I am always wondering if in fact it may be some sort of mechanical problem.""

Anonymous, ON (2019 Toyota RAV4 XLE 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

Other electrical system problem

"Lift gate was making noise when opening and closing. Toyota dealer couldnt find any problem. 3 months later it wouldnt open more than 2 inches, and not at all manually. Toyota dealer said one of the power struts wasnt working. Because of that, the door itself had shifted. The dealer couldnt repair because body work was required. J&H Auto Body confirmed the diagnosis and found both struts were involved because the door had shifted. Long story short: $3,000 later (including the $170 charged 3 months after the noise issue reported), my lift gate is back to normal, though there is no guarantee it will not occur again. The body shop said this occurs very often in RAV4s. They have hired a specialist to work mainly on this issue!"
