    In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

    What Owners Say

    Apple CarPlay

""I am new to the area and rely on GPS. I have, on multiple occasions, used GPS to get somewhere, parked, gone inside to purchase something and then come out to a car where CarPlay will not connect. Yes, I could use my phones GPS (which is what CarPlay does) but the randomness of the lost connection is disconcerting. Ive found I had to go back and re-pair my phone, even when I usually have the phone utilize a wired connection. Well see if the latest software update resolves this.""

    Over-the-air software update failed

""During a late night shopping trip, an over-the-air software update disabled the entertainment system and screen, access to phones and GPS, disabled Eyesight safety systems. Everything went dark from the touchscreen. Car functions not controlled by touchscreen still worked. Thankfully I was close to home and knew the way. Im new to the area and rely on GPS. Yes, I could still use my phones GPS (which is what the car also uses) but having so much fail late at night (when I avoid driving at night) was disconcerting. Dealership got me in the next day and reinstalled the update. When I asked if I should disable the automatic updates, I was told no, because I would have to come into the dealership for the update. I do remember a software update that I had happen while I was at home and it said not to turn off the car. I would rather do updates myself at home.""

    Body Hardware

Windows, locks and latches, doors or sliding doors, tailgate, trunk or hatch, mirrors, seat controls (power or manual), seat belts, sunroof, convertible top, glass defect.

    What Owners Say

    Mirrors

"the outside mirrors do not close electrically and they are hard to close manually, very clunky"

Anonymous, CA (2024 Subaru Impreza Sport 2.0-L 4 Cyl)

    Electrical Accessories

Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, USB ports, alarm or security system, remote engine start, heated or cooled seats, heated steering wheel, headlights, automatic headlights, automatic wipers, wireless charging pad.

    What Owners Say

    12V battery

"Yhe OEM 12 Volt Battery failed during sub zero weather this past winter. The sugary dealer stated the reason was phantom battery drain. The issue continued. The dealership replaced the battery under warrantee but has not yet reimbursed the cost"

Anonymous, NY (2024 Subaru Impreza Sport 2.5-L 4 Cyl)

    Exhaust

Muffler, pipes, catalytic converter, exhaust manifold, heat shields, leaks.

    What Owners Say

    Other/unsure

""The issues are not serious, but could have caused me to seek a different new vehicle. There is what some would call noticeable road noise. It is not road noise, it is noisy air flow over the vehicle especially noticeable on the interstate. You have to turn the radio up significantly to compensate for listening. Another issue is undercarriage clearance. I live on an unpaved road in the far northeast of the country. During winter and early spring months I have experienced some, mostly minor scraping of the undercarriage on uneven road surfaces. I have always owned a sedan type vehicle, but I find the issue with this car more so than others. I have had the dealer inspect the undercarriage and they have seen the area where it scrapes and said it is minor, not concerning. One of the mechanics there told me that if I bothers me, I could inquire about a 1" lift kit which he said would be enough. I did inquire and was told they could do that, but my warranty would be void. 3rd issue, often, with the first trip of the day, I start the car, place my foot on the brake, put the shifter in reverse and begin to back up. The car seems to slightly resist the reverse motion, there is often a brief groaning or rubbing sound and then everything seems normal. The dealership has not been able to duplicate this. They have asked me to drop it off at the end of the day so they can keep it overnight to test for that after the car has been sitting overnight. They think it could be slight rust or similar on the rotors from condensation and/or ??. The last and most irritating issue is the fact that Subaru has eliminated the spare tire for this vehicle. As far as I know, they do not make a spare for it. They give you a mini compressor and a container of 1-shot sealant that is made to work with the compressor. A couple of months after I bought the car, I had a flat tire in an area with poor cell service. I attempted to inflate the tire and the procedure was not successful. A person came along with a 2 year old Impreza and offered their spare. It did not fit on my year model. My wife and I had to drive on the flat at night to where we had cell service. We waited over 3 hours for a tow service. Subaru had recently changed the tire size and lug pattern and I believe to this day does not make a spare for this car. There is a place in the trunk for a donut spare. I scoured the internet and other sources. I found one source that was aware of the issue and makes a spare, donut style (but slightly wider tread so it does not fit properly in the spare well) tire on a rim. I purchased it for a cost of just over $400.00. Prior to purchasing the spare, I went to the dealer to replace the cannister of sealant, recommended by Subaru and made to use with the compressor. They sell the sealant cannister for $130.00. The car drives and handles beautifully. The Crosstrek would have helped with the clearance issue, but at a loss of MPG.""
