The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

In-car Electronics

Infotainment system (audio, GPS, phone), rear entertainment system, backup or other camera/sensors, head-up display.

What Owners Say

Apple CarPlay

"The 2025 Forester Hybrid has connectivity issues. There is a significant delay in the car's ability to properly connect to the apple CarPlay app and phone in general when the car has sat for a period of time. When this delay occurs the screen will freeze and pixelate in a sluggish manner. The current issue presents a danger, as the delay in connectivity causes a distraction in which I need to pull over and help the system right itself."

Anonymous A., AZ (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Slow performance of touch screen at times"

Anonymous, MA (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
Display screen freezes up

"The interface is very slow and takes quite a bit of time to transition from selection to selection. It also does not respond at times when you select an option. It is the only complaint to date about the vehicle."

Anonymous, NY (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Sport 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
In-dash navigation system (GPS)

"works slowly, giving directions after I have already passed the intersection. Gives garbled/unclear directions. Does not seem to correctly "read" maps: misses dead ends; makes inexplicable detours."

Anonymous, CA (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Navigation also freezes and does not save the partial information already entered when you resume typing after the car is in drive mode. If I pull to the side of the road to continue typing it starts from the beginning."

Anonymous, NY (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Sport 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)
Other in-car electronics problem

"Trnk does not open when using foot option"

Anonymous, NY (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"The wireless phone charger works for about 30 seconds at a time, if it works at all. I have an iPhone 15 pro max, with a protective case, that charges fine in the other vehicles I drive. In this car, you may be able to move the phone around until the charger starts working, but it goes out again within 30 seconds. If it starts charging again during the trip, it still works for about 30 seconds and then goes out again. This problem has existed from the day I purchase the car new on 5/31/2025. I have it looked at at the dealership, and although they have admitted that there is a problem, they say that my car is like all other Subarus, and they can't do anything about it. Even though the are is only two months old now, I guess I will have to accept a wireless charger that doesn't work for as long as I own this car."

Anonymous A., IL (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Responsiveness is very laggy, esp. in the first few minutes after starting the car. And once, it wasn't able to produce any audio (from broadcast radio, satellite radio, Android Auto streaming, etc.) that required shutting off the car and rebooting the infotainment system. Overall I'd rate the infotainment system as a 5 out of 10."

Anonymous, ON (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"You press a button on the interface if its radio or button for automatic brake stop it is a slow response"

Anonymous, NY (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Touring 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"wireless phone charger does not work. Service writer says that it is only designed to charge at 1 watt even if does work so its not worth an appointment"

Anonymous, MA (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Limited 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"The QI charger works only intermitantly and at best charges a new iphone at 10% per hour."

Anonymous, CA (2025 Subaru Forester Hybrid Premium 2.5-L 4 Cyl hybrid)

"Significant lag in infotainment/climate control systems upon starting the vehicle. When using the map and listening to radio, system puts sound to the rear speakers when driving instructions are being announced - even when audible instructions have been muted. When trying to use radio, carplay automatically puts on bluetooth."

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.
Summary:
Subaru of America, Inc. is recalling certain 2026 Crosstrek hybrid, and 2025 Forester hybrid vehicles. When the fuel tank is near full capacity, an increase in ambient temperature may cause the fuel to expand and spill out of the filler neck due to an insufficient seal on the fuel cap.
What should you do:
Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures, and to limit the fuel level to 50% until the remedy is completed. Dealers will replace the fuel filler cap gasket, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 25, 2026. Owners may contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614. Subaru's number for this recall is WRD-26. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on February 16, 2026.
