"Back in 2021, we noticed the front cowling on the windshield water separator was disintegrating and needed to be replaced. It was noticed when a repair tech at a windshield repair shop was replacing the windshield after a rock hit the windshield requiring a complete windshield replacement. Asked if they had the part and they said it would take a significant time to acquire the part. Tech removed the cowling and reinstalled it during the windshield replacement. The cowling is a rather simple part to replace. I have the tools but am having a difficult time finding the correct part to make the repair. Ford said they could replace it for an exorbitant amount of money around $1000 including parts and labor. Needless to say, we declined to have them do the work. The issue has still not been resolved and is causing no apparent issues with the engine, road noise or windshield leakage. When it first occurred, a bit of the windshield trim gasket was vibrating at speeds exceeding 50 mph causing concern. I removed the gasket and the noise went away. There has been no leakage into the engine compartment or the passenger compartment. Looks like a complete design failure to me. I will replace it if I can find the correct part. As of this time, the issue is causing zero issues with leakage or road noise."
