What Owners Say
""Started having problems after the warranty expired at 60,000 miles. Clunking, shifting rough, not going into gear. Had it serviced each time a problem would come up but it didnt ever do it when in for service so all they had was my word something was wrong. One day driving my daughter to school the engine sounded like it was coming apart and would barely go. Had it towed to the repair shop who said the transmission needed replaced.""
Anonymous, (2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.6-L V6)"Started in October. Took about a week for it to be inoperable after first notice. Took about a month to get it replaced. $6000 cost. Working okay so far"
Anonymous, WV (2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6-L V6)"At around 100,000 miles, required transmission replacement at a cost of $6,800."
Anonymous A., FL (2016 Dodge Grand Caravan R/T 3.6-L V6)""at 128000 KM the car simply would no longer go into reverse and had to be towed. the forward movement was normal. The transmission shop advised that the work required to resolve this meant that the costs of removing, diagnosing and rebuilding this unit would be a lot of hours and we would be better served by putting a rebuilt unit in,which we subsequently did after checking with a couple of other shops who gave us a similar scenario. As it turned out this cost us 4200.00 CDN. and left us with a bad taste in our mouth about Dodge vans. since then others have told us that the transmissions on these are known for being "weak". To be sure I have owned a lot of Ford cars over the years and have not had an outright transmission failure. We were not able to verify what exactly went wrong with our trasmission as the shop told us that they send them out to a major rebuilding facility where they get analysed and rebuilt if they are fit and then resold....who knows for sure if this isn,t just a convenient business plan where these things are resold several times.""
Anonymous A., BC (2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6-L V6)"Lost my transmission while traveling across the country. My insurance totaled my car and gave me $6300. The new transmission cost $6500. Had car repaired as we were 1200 miles from home and pulling a pop tent trailer. If at home, I would have totaled the van."
Anonymous A., AZ (2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6-L V6)"No warning indicators prior to transmission failure I was driving home from work at night and lost everything"
Anonymous, NY (2016 Dodge Grand Caravan SE 3.6-L V6)
"Transmission started slipping while changing gears, replaced with a new-used transmission that then had a return line leak."
