    Owner Reported Trouble Spots

The Reliability score is based on our latest subscriber survey of 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan owners. The owner comments describe problems respondents experienced with this vehicle.

    Climate System

AC compressor, blower (fan) motor, condenser, evaporator, heater system, automatic climate system, electrical failure, refrigerant leakage.

    What Owners Say

    A/C compressor

"AC went out in 100 degrees weather. Just happened without warning. Just blew hot air. Compressor and solenoid bad. High dollar fix. Fixed compressor for $800, to get to turn on and blow cold air was more than $1000. Still struggling with it as Senior Citizen on Soc Sec."

    Anonymous A., (2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6-L V6)
    Blower (fan) motor

"Once condenser fixed then blower would not come on..another $1000 estimate to fix, so put a manual toggle switch to blower, only one speed, but works better than no AC in Coastal Southeast."

    Anonymous A., (2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6-L V6)
    Other climate system problem

""This is an expensive repair, well into the $3 to $4,000 amount. The plastic doors that control the air through the dash ducts are wearing out. The small geared wheels are losing their teeth. This causes the doors to open incorrectly, one side cold the other hot. The dash has to be disassembled, after removing both front seats. A car as old as this, the parts are becoming few and far between. The Dodge Caravan was discontinued in 2020, and the Chrysler Town and Country was discontinued in 2016. I will hope the problem does not get any worse.""

Anonymous, ON (2013 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT 3.6-L V6)

"Rear evaporator coil leaked and was replaced."

Premature pad/rotor wear, pulsation or vibration, antilock system, parking brake, master cylinder, calipers, squeaking, brake failure, regenerative braking.

    What Owners Say

    Calipers

"Always the rear calipers. This is the 3rd time in the last year I had the rear calipers repaired. Always the same thing. The right side caliper would seize almost with the pads on the rotor. The left side would seize open. Each time the slide pins would seize making the rear brakes 95% inop. Problem found when doing a regular brake inspection while trading winter to summer tires. I felt as if the car was "nose-diving" slightly when I had to brake hard."

An overheated switch may result in a vehicle fire.
    Summary:
Chrysler Group, LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan vehicles manufactured August 25, 2010, through October 31, 2013. The affected vehicles may experience overheating of the vent window switch in the driver's door armrest.
    What should you do:

In the event of a crash, the wrong side airbags could deploy leaving the occupant with no airbag protection at the point of impact, increasing the risk of injury.
    Summary:
Chrysler is recalling certain model year 2013 Town & Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, and RAM C/V Tradesman vehicles manufactured May 10, 2012, through June 7, 2013. A software error may result in the opposite side airbags deploying from the collision point (a left side impact would deploy the right side airbags and vice versa).
    What should you do:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will flash the occupant restraint control module, free of charge. The recall began during September 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N44.
    For more information:
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

Thus, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and No. 214, "Side Impact Protection."
    What should you do:
Chrysler will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ORC module, free of charge. The recall began on October 3, 2013. Owners may contact Chrysler at 1-800-247-9753. Chrysler's recall campaign number is N48.
