What Owners Say
"The original engine failed at 203000 miles. I had a rebuilt engine installed and it failed last week after only 37,000 miles. There is metal in the oil and filter. The exact cause has not been determined."
Anonymous A., WI (2013 Chevrolet Equinox LTZ 2.4-L 4 Cyl)""PVC VALVE (HOLE} INSTEAD OF VALVE FROZE TWICE. BOTH TIMES CAUSED REAR MAIN SEAL TO BLOW. ALWAYS BURNS OIL. GM WON'T COVER IT. RECALL ON OIL BURNING, BUT GM SAYS MADE IN SOUTHERN FACTORY, SO EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE RIGHT YEAR, MODEL ,ENGINE AND RING PROBLEM THEY WON'T STAND BEHIND IT AND THEIR PRODUCT""
Anonymous, NE (2013 Chevrolet Equinox Unsure 3.6-L V6)"I began losing about a quart of oil per 500 miles from a rear main seal. The leak has stopped since the repair, but it seems to still be burning a quart of oil around every 1,000 - 1,500 miles."

"The engine consumed a great deal of oil after about 100,000 miles. GM notified me about an excessive oil issue . I took the auto to the dealer and they did an oil consumption test over several weeks. After that time they decided to do a complete ring job to fix the oil use. They did that in about 3 days and fixed the issue. The only charge I had to pay was the taxes on the parts. I have put on about 30,000 miles on this auto and no oil use issues. I was satisfied with the fix"
