Hyundai Palisade SUVs Recalled for Windshield Wiper Problem
The motor for the driver-side wiper may fail because of snow and ice buildup on the windshield
Hyundai has announced the recall of more than 167,000 Palisade SUVs because of a problem with the driver-side windshield wiper. Snow and/or ice buildup on the windshield could obstruct the wiper arm and prevent the wiper from working. The resulting buildup of snow or ice could reduce driver visibility in inclement weather, increasing the risk of a crash.
The problem is due to a circuit breaker that might trip if snow or ice builds up between the area below the windshield and the wiper arm. This would result in the wiper temporarily stopping operation to protect the motor.
The Details
Vehicles recalled: 167,085 Hyundai Palisades from the 2021 through 2023 model years.
The problem: Accumulations of ice and/or snow could prevent the driver-side windshield wiper arm from moving, resulting in the motor working intermittently or completely stop functioning.
The fix: Hyundai dealers will replace the driver-side windshield wiper arm with a redesigned version, free of charge.
