    MORE ON STROLLERS

“At CR, we consider a stroller lightweight and compact when it’s 17 pounds or less and easy to carry,” says Joan Muratore, the engineer who oversees stroller testing at Consumer Reports. “You should be able to carry it in one hand and your child in the other. And it won’t take up your entire car trunk space.”

In our labs, we’ve tested more than a dozen lightweight strollers that are big on features while staying small in size. But not all fare well in our rigorous tests, which are designed to help assess how a stroller will perform in the real world, from traversing street curbs to a gravel path, opening and closing with one hand, and fitting in a car’s trunk, as well as safety and setup. Below are the lightweight strollers we recommend if you want to take a load off when you’re out and about.
