Who are they? Global-E is a contract engineering and manufacturing firm to automotive and aerospace clients. Led by aerospace engineer Carl Guichard, the team has eight or nine members and dozens of volunteers. It assembled two cars, one in Louisiana and another in Los Angeles.

What they say will set them apart: The team has two cars: The first, designed for immediate market applications, it says, is the Pulse. The Pulse is a foreign-market five-door hatchback converted to lithium-ion battery power. The car has four seats and is entered in the Mainstream class.
