What is it?
Infiniti unveiled a concept vehicle that reflects the basic design theme of the G35 coupe and M35 sedan: a wide stance and a defined transition between the windows and lower sections of the bodywork. What makes this concept stand out are features such as a full-length glass roof, 20-inch wheels, hidden door handles, and small video cameras that replace traditional rear-view mirrors. The interior is arranged with two deep front bucket seats and two small rear seats that are best for children. The transmission tunnel bisects the cabin, giving each seating position the feeling of being in a cockpit. A large screen positioned to the right of the gauge cluster houses the ventilation, navigation, and vehicle system display, which is controlled by a knob similar to the one in the M35 sedan Consumer Reports tested in 2005.
What is new or notable?
Clearly Infiniti doesn't want to stray too far from the success they've had with the design of the current G35, which is echoed throughout the Infiniti range.
CR's take:
Infiniti was mum with their plans for this coupe, which looks like a somewhat larger G35. A revised G35 is scheduled for introduction at the New York Auto Show this spring.
