What is it?
This is a sporty concept car that Ford claims will be family friendly. This coupe has an aggressive stance, high beltline, gullwing doors, and mesh seats suspended from the chassis. The rear "love seat" can fit one adult or two children. Ford says that the Reflex would be powered by a diesel-hybrid drivetrain that uses recyclable and environmentally safe lithium-ion batteries and would be capable of a 0-to-60 sprint in less than seven seconds.
What's new or notable?
Ford says the reflex would make extensive use of recycled materials such as old athletic shoes.
CR's take:
This small coupe could fill a gap in Ford's lineup for something sporty and affordable, especially if it incorporated the driving dynamics of the Ford Focus or Mazda3. The gullwing doors are unlikely to make it into production. Although the diesel-hybrid powertrain may be produced one day, it's an odd match for a sporty coupe.
