Cadillac Escalade EXT and ESV |
|
What are they?
The redesigned 2007 Escalade was been shown in three guises, the standard Escalade, extra-large ESV, and pickup-bed-equipped EXT. The extended-length ESV is 21 inches longer than the standard Escalade, and it is easily identified by the rectangular rear doors that aren't impinged on by the wheel wells. The ESV seats eight passengers over three rows and comes with a standard DVD system not found on the smaller version. Its second-row seats tumble forward for easy access to the third row. The EXT is a crewcab pickup truck, and is a more upscale (and more expensive) twin of the Chevrolet Avalanche. It seats five passengers over two rows. As in the previous EXT, the cargo bed can be expanded by folding down the midgate between the cab and the bed. However, this prevents use of the rear seat, effectively turning the truck into a two-seater. Both vehicles come with a new 6.2-liter aluminum V8 engine with variable valve timing. It is rated at 403 hp and 417 pounds-feet of torque. Both vehicles also feature many standard safety features such as electronic stability control and a pre-collision system.
What's new or notable?
The OnStar system found on the Escalade line features GM's crash notification system, which makes vehicle crash data immediately available to local emergency services.
When are they on sale? Summer 2006.
