What is it?
The F3R is Toyota's attempt to buck the "soccer mom" stigma of today's minivans. Its boxy front end and narrow, street-rod-style window treatment cast a very different image than, say, Toyota's Sienna. The F3R has seven doors: two in front, two that open barn-style on each rear side, and the tailgate. Inside, this concept vehicle has its three rows of seats arranged lounge style. When parked, the front seats can swivel toward the rear. The front passenger seat can recline to form a chaise lounge. The right and middle seats of the second row fold flat into the floor. And the left-hand seat lays back to form a wraparound sofa with the rear seat. Toyota calls it a living room away from home. Completing the picture, the instrument panel has a mode for driving and a lounge mode.
What's new or notable?
With this concept vehicle, Toyota may be testing the waters for a larger, more upscale version of its youth-oriented Scion xB.
