What is it? Mitsubishi has unveiled a mild freshening for the Eclipse coupe and convertible, with a dramatic front fascia and trapezoidal grille that follows trends seen in recent Audi, Volkswagen, and now Acura design. High-intensity discharge headlamps will be standard on GT, along with a large, rear spoiler. The rear fascia is also updated for 2009 on all models. Three new colors are available, including the vibrant yellow shown here.

Inside, the cloth upholstery is upgraded.

Power from the GT model increases incrementally from 263 to 265 horsepower from a 3.8-liter V6 due to a new, dual-exhaust system. Stability control is now standard.

What is new or notable: Very little.

CR's take: The Eclipse is the lowest-rated model in our Sporty Car category, and these updates do not address our key criticisms.

When will it be available? Summer 2008.
