What is it? The redesigned Galant makes its debut in the Windy City. The Galant will be offered in four trim lines—the top of the line Ralliart, the 4-cyl. ES and Sport models, and the Sport V6. The performance-driven Ralliart is powered by a 258-hp 3.8-liter V-6 engine matched with a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control. It will also have a special tuned sport suspension. The ES and Sport models will be powered by a 160-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine and a four-speed automatic transmission with manual shift. The new Sport V-6 model features a 230-hp 3.8-liter V-6 engine.

Safety features include anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, front airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and side front and rear curtain airbags. The V6 models are both equipped with standard stability control.

The Galant receives new styling on the front and rear end with a new grille and wider rear glass. Standard 17-inch wheels are new on the Sport versions.

What’s new or notable? With the Ralliart, Mitsubishi offers buyers a sporty sedan with more creature comforts than their high performance Lancer Evolution models.

When will it be available? February 2008.
