What is it? Kia "pimped" its Rondo mini-minivan for the Chicago event, creating the SX Concept. Like sporty SX variants of other Kia models, this show car features aggressive front and rear fascias, plus a body kit. (The body kit is currently available as an option.) The suspension is lowered three inches, and the SX Concept is equipped with 19-inch wheels. Roof rack rails have been removed for a sleeker look.
Engine output has been increased through a cold-air intake and cat-back exhaust. These simple enhancements combine to give the Rondo's optional 2.7-liter V6 a ten-horsepower boost to 192 hp.
Interior touches include stainless-steel pedals, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and leather seat trim.
What is new or notable: Kia says the Rondo SX was brought to Chicago to gauge public opinion before making a decision whether to bring parts of the package to production. If green lighted, the SX package, or trim, could add a shot of cool to a practical vehicle that could use the image boost.
