spacer About our coverage

The Detroit show serves as the auto industry’s New Year’s party, as the North American International Auto Show assumes lead as the first major new-car show in the United States. The Los Angeles Auto Show moved from its traditional early January schedule to late fall, relinquishing this distinction to the Motor City.

Over three media days, we saw more than 40 near-future production models and concept vehicles unveiled, often with dramatic stage shows and marketing hyperbole. For our online coverage, we cut through the hype to present our insights on the most-significant vehicles.

The Consumer Reports auto experts that covered the North American International Auto Show include Auto Test Senior Director David Champion, Senior Engineer Gabriel Shenhar, Senior Engineer Jake Fisher, Engineer Tom Mutchler, Senior Editor Gordon Hard, and Auto Content Specialist Mike Quincy from the Connecticut-based auto test division. On scene from the Yonkers, New York, editorial offices were Deputy Editor Cliff Weathers, Deputy Editor Online Jeff Bartlett, Managing Editor Jonathan Linkov, Associate Editor Eric Evarts, and Associate Editor Jim Travers.

Consumer Reports Television Producer Susan Fuhr and cameraman/editor David Hiller created video in the field, with production support from Senior Art Director Rob Jenter, Television Production Assistant Lindsey Antis, and Web Product Analyst Eugene Chin.

Liza Barth coordinated production from Consumers Union headquarters in New York.
