What is it? Lexus showed the latest iteration of its high-performance sports car concept, edging closer to production. The first LF-A was shown in Detroit two years ago. Since then, examples have been seen being tested on race tracks. The automaker admits the first example was a pure concept. In an official statement, Lexus states that this latest LF-A “…is much closer to a vehicle that we would bring to market.”

Details are still limited, but it is powered by a front-mounted, 500-plus horsepower V10 engine. To aid weight distribution, the engine is fitted midship, and both the radiators and transaxle are put to the rear. This sleek wedge is about three inches shorter than an SC 430.

What is new or notable: Luxury sports car battle royale may be in the future, as both Acura and Lexus showcased V10-powered concepts with production potential.
