What is it? At the 2007 Detroit auto show, Honda unveiled the next-generation Honda Accord coupe in thinly disguised concept form. This marks the first time Honda has ever revealed an Accord concept at a major auto show.

Beyond the styling preview, the ever-secretive Honda disclosed precious little information about the 2008 Accord line. The new V6 promises to be more powerful than the current 244-hp, 3.0-liter engine with improved fuel economy, aided by Honda's next-generation variable displacement system. Emissions are said to also be improved.

What is new or notable: This show car exhibits bolder styling than commonly associated with Accords, just in time to face off with a new competitor--the Nissan Altima coupe.

When will it be available? Fall, 2007.

CR's take: With the attractive new Nissan Altima coupe, Honda's new coupe will have some healthy competition. But what may be more significant is if this new styling appears on the new Accord Sedan. The current Accord, while our highest rated family sedan, has never been a "looker".
