What is it? The Concept CS is a sweeping coupe-like sedan which may provide a hint to the styling of a future Bavarian tourer, perhaps a new 8 Series. Originally debuting at the 2007 Shanghai Auto Show, the rear-wheel-drive CS looks much like Mercedes-Benz's CLS and will sit on the same platform as the upcoming 7-Series. However, it is wider and longer than the 7-Series and the roof is quite a bit lower. And this nice-sized sedan only seats four.

What's new or notable? The CS is still a concept, so technical details are sketchy. Under the hood, BMW has wedged in a V-12 engine that is akin to the V10 engine found in the M5.

CR's take: Coupe-like styling for luxury sedans is de rigeur in Europe. The CS, if produced, will share this look with not only the CLS, but with the upcoming Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide.
