What is it? While called a concept, Mazda says the Furai is not just all show and no go. This is a performance car that can be driven on public roads as well as a racetrack. Under the swoopy bodywork is a 450-hp rotary engine that sits inside a chassis that was used during the American LeMans Series in 2005 and 2006.

What is new or notable? The rotary engine in the Furai concept has been tuned to run on 100 percent ethanol, rather than work as a flex-fuel vehicle. This shows that not only can the engine be used in the "green themed" ALMS race series, but that Mazda can develop an engine in a road car that is, at the least, Flex-fuel capable and can run on E10 (10% ethanol, 90% gasoline).
