What is it? Lexus has taken the roof off its LF-A concept sports car to create a high-performance roadster concept. The roadster is similar to the LF-A coupe version that was displayed at the 2007 Detoit auto show in that its body is made from lightweight carbon-fiber and aluminum. The two-seater is powered by a V10 engine and is capable of more than 500 hp. According to Toyota, top speeds are greater than 200 mph.
The roadster is compact and low-profile and like the coupe, stands at just 48 inches tall, but the roadster adds a rear wing to aid in aerodymanics and speed.
What's new or notable? The "F" designation is used to identify Lexus vehicles in a special program that falls outside their normal product development process. The new Lexus IS-F is the first vehicle to carry the F marque.
