Saturn Vue Green 2-Mode hybrid |
|
What is it? Saturn says its latest Vue Green Line is a two-mode hybrid that will deliver 50 percent better fuel economy over the conventional V6 Vue, which received a disappointing 17-mpg overall in CR's recent test. It is expected to have a driving range of more than 500 miles, a tow capacity of 3,500 lbs., and a 0-60 mph time of 7.3 seconds. The Green Line 2 Mode utilizes a 3.6-liter VVT V6 engine with direct injection, which provides for improved fuel efficiency. Electric power comes from two 55kW motors integrated into the transmission.
The Vue's safety features include standard stability control, a rollover detection system, six air bags, and front active head restraints.
What is new or notable? The Saturn Vue Green Line 2 Mode Hybrid is GM's first front-wheel-drive compact SUV to use the two-mode hybrid technology. The system is currently in use on the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon and will become available in 2008 on the Cadillac Escalade and Chevrolet Silverado 2 Mode versions.
When will it be available? Late 2008.
