What is it? The CTS-V is a souped-up version of the mid-sized CTS sedan that was redesigned and considerably improved for 2008. The regular CTS is comfortable and fun to drive, and the interior uses high-quality materials that fit together well. The new CTS-V is easily recognizable thanks to a wire mesh grille, which distinguishes the front end from the CTS’s chrome egg-crate grille. The CTS-V is set to compete directly against the BMW M3 and M5, and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG. The key draw is the new engine, rumored to be a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with an eye-popping 525 horsepower. The standard transmission is a six-speed automatic.
What is new or notable? Optional six-speed manual transmission, and a V8 with more than 500 horsepower.
When will it be available? Fall 2008.
