Consumer Reports auto experts report from the 2012 New York Auto Show in New York City.
Lexus RX

What is it? For 2013, this midsized luxury SUV gets some cosmetic updates to both the exterior and the interior. The RX 350 and RX 450h hybrid both went under the knife, receiving a new grille, headlamp design, front bumper, and tail lamps. The current must-have feature—LED daytime running lights—have also been added. A power tailgate is now standard.

A sporty package is new as well (but not available on the AWD RX 350), with 19-inch wheels, halogen headlights, and additional body cladding. Inside the SUV, drivers will find a redesigned steering wheel and center console.

What is new or notable? The 450h—known more for economy than excitement—gets a Sport mode with different steering effort, throttle mapping, and shift logic.

CR’s take: A few cosmetic tweaks to keep this getting-older SUV looking fresh.

When will it be available? Summer 2012.
