Consumer Reports auto experts report from the 2012 LA Auto Show
Nissan GT-R

What is it? Developed on the world’s most challenging racing circuits, the GT-R is set to deliver higher performance for the next model year, but still be “street-able.”

Building upon the new engine in the 2013 model, the 2014 adds 15 more horsepower to bring it to 545-hp with 15 more pound-feet in torque in the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. There are also new fuel injectors, promising improved throttle response and acceleration. Fuel economy is the same at 16 mpg city and 23 mpg highway.

There is also a new optional premium interior package, which adds a Red Amber color to the leather, accents, and hand stitching on the seats. The Black Edition steering wheel adds new red accents as well. Besides the interior package a cold weather option is available as well with all-season tires.

CR take: Another year of incremental gains for an impressive machine that has become an icon for the video-game generation.

When will it be available? January 2013.
