What is it? Smaller than recently introduced Chevrolet Cruze sedan, the Sonic will duke it out with other subcompacts like the Honda Fit and Hyundai Accent when it arrives this fall. Hatchback and sedan versions will be offered, both with four doors.
Available powertrains will include 1.8-liter and an optional 1.4-liter turbocharged engines, both available with six-speed manual or automatic transmissions. Safety features include 10 standard airbags and electronic stability control. For techies, a subscription to GM’s OnStar for six months will be included, and Bluetooth and XM Radio will also be available.
What is new or notable? Chevrolet joins the ranks of manufacturers offering more content in a smaller package. And it will reach out to enthusiasts with Z-Spec aftermarket components to allow owners to personalize their vehicle.
