What is it? Larger than the EX and FX, the JX draws styling inspiration from the Infiniti Essence concept car. Infiniti officials cite a key benefit to the seven-passenger JX is that its third-row seat is not a "penalty box."
The JX is powered by a 265-hp, 3.5-liter V6 engine teamed with the brand's first continuously variable transmission. It will be offered in front- and all-wheel drive. Fuel economy is estimated to be 17 mpg city, 23 mpg highway.
Among the convenience features, the JX will offer a 14-speaker Bose stereo, Infiniti Connection telematics system with automatic calendar synching and navigation integration to route to appointments, ability to notify the owner when the vehicle is driven out of a certain area or is speeding (handy for monitoring a teen driver), and the Infiniti Personal Assistant live concierge service.
What is new or notable: On the safety front, the JX will offer blind-spot intervention and back-up collision systems, with cross-traffic awareness.
When will it be available? Spring 2012.
