What is it? Lexus is adding its second dedicated hybrid to its lineup with the CT 200h premium compact. The CT 200h will feature a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gas engine in tandem with an electric motor and nickel-metal-hydride battery. The Audi A3-sized hatchback will also be capable of driving in four different modes: EV for driving on battery power alone, Normal for regular throttle response, Eco for maximum fuel economy, and Sport mode for more responsive throttle and quicker response from the electric power steering.
The CT 200h safety features will include antilock brakes, brake assist, stability control, electronic brake-force distribution, and eight standard air bags. Optional features include a pre-collision system and dynamic cruise control, which can measure and maintain a set distance behind other vehicles.
Inside, the baby Lexus will have tilt-and-telescope steering wheel, memory driver seats, and steering wheel audio controls.
Pricing has not been announced, but it is set to be the least expensive Lexus in the lineup, likely to start around $30,000.
When will it be available? Early 2011.
