What is it? In this new generation, Hyundai eliminated the V6 engine option, and the car was relaunched with only a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The turbocharged, four-cylinder 2.0T replaces the V6, and has more horsepower: 274 hp and 269 pound feet. of torque. It has a six-speed automatic transmission and gets an EPA rating of 22 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. Hyundai brags that this is more horsepower than any competing vehicles V6 and has better highway fuel economy than any competitor's four-cylinder offering.

What's new or notable? Unlike many high-powered turbocharged four-cylinders, Hyundai's 2.0T uses regular fuel. A twin-scroll turbocharger is a relatively high-tech addition that improves throttle response, while retaining the turbos horsepower advantage.

When will it be available? June 2010
