What is it? In what will be Infiniti's first production hybrid vehicle, the M35 Hybrid will be based on the redesigned 2011 M and will join the M37 and M56 six- and eight-cylinder models in the lineup.

The hybrid system uses a twin clutch installed between the naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine and single 50kW electric motor producing 360 hp. The battery pack is a laminated lithium-ion design that Infiniti claims will offer twice the power as a same-sized, traditional Nickel-Metal-Hydride pack. The hybrid can travel up to 62 mph on electric power alone. Fuel economy is estimated at 30 mph highway, 25 mpg city and is aided by electric power steering and regenerative braking.

Whats new or notable? The M Hybrid will feature a standard audible warning system for pedestrians that will use a range of sounds to alert others on the road. The sound works from start until 20 mph and goes back on when the vehicle slows down to 15 mph.

When will it be available? Early 2011.
