What is it? The fuel-efficient compact Cruze is destined for the U.S. market, after its initial European and Asian launch. The Cruze will be available in three trim lines--the LS, LT, and LTZ trim lines and two engines--a new turbocharged Ecotec 1.4 liter, which will be standard on the LT and LTZ models, and a naturally aspirated 1.8 liter. Both engines are available with six-speed automatic and manual transmissions. Fuel economy is expected to reach 40 mpg in highway driving in the turbo version, but EPA estimates are not available yet.

Available technology features include a navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity and XM satellite radio. Ten standard air bags, electronic stability control with rollover sensing, and OnStar are among the safety features.

When will it be available? Fall 2010.
