What is it? Ford introduced the freshened 2011 Edge and Edge Sport at the Chicago Auto Show. Both have extensive exterior styling changes and there are now three new powertrains available. The Edge's 3.5-liter V6 will produce 285 horsepower while the Edge Sports 3.7-liter V-6 will deliver 305 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and run on regular fuel. Ford says the third powertrain, the new 2.0-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine, can deliver class-leading fuel economy, 30 percent better than what the Edge got in 2006. It will also be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Safety features include standard blind-sport mirrors and an optional collision warning system with brake support.
What's new and notable? The Edge Sport will ride on standard 22-inch polished aluminum wheels and will have exterior treatments such as smoke-tinted lamp lenses and chrome exhaust tips. The Sport will ride on a sport-tuned suspension and the transmission will include paddle shifters. It's Ti-VCT V6 on the Sport is similar to the one added to the Ford Mustang lineup for 2011.
When will it be available? Summer 2010
