What is it? Making its world debut, the Cadillac Converj concept car
explores a potential, upscale application for the Voltec electric propulsion
system from the Chevrolet Volt. Looking much like the CTS coupe, the Converj
houses a 220-cell lithium-ion battery pack that enables a claimed 40-mile
range on pure electric power. When the energy is drained, a flex-fuel engine
can generate electricity to propel the car and recharge the battery,
providing hundreds miles of range.
Being a Cadillac, this show car is fitted with Magnetic Ride Control, an
adaptive suspension found on production Caddy models. The interior is
accented with organic LED illumination, and it features screens for
navigation, powertrain monitoring, and the rearview and side cameras (in
place of mirrors). Power-folding front seats provide access to the tight 2+2
buckets.
What is new or notable? An all-glass roof features solar panels to
provide energy for some accessories.
