Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss |

What is it? The ultimate and final example of the current-generation SLR, the Stirling Moss concept is an open-topped, windshield-free homage to the British racing legend Sir Stirling Moss. This car features a supercharged V8 that makes 650 hp and can rocket from 0-62 mph in under 3.5 seconds. The windowless doors are gullwing types that open forward. The car can be closed using two carbon-fiber tonneau covers. And if that supercharged V8 overwhelms the disc brakes, there is an airbrake that is automatically raised for hard braking at speeds over 75 mph.
What's new or notable? The small air deflector over the instument binnacle is a nod to the original 300 SLR that competed in the Mille Miglia in 1955. The 750,000 Euro price tag does include the leather racing goggles and helmet. But dont expect comfort for that price. The radio, phone, and power-seat adjustments are shed in the name of weight savings.
When will it be available? You can't own it, so why ask. The 75 examples being produced will be for "the most loyal SLR customers" according to Mercedes-Benz. But this car will be produced starting in June, when the current SLR roadster ends.
