What is it? Likely 9-5s swansong halo model, the Griffin amounts to a classy trim package: two-tone leather seats, special stitching, matte-finished chrome, a spoiler, and special paint colors. Heated power folding mirrors are standard, and an automatic transmission is a no-cost option. The Griffin is available either as a sedan (for $42,774) or a SportCombi wagon (for $44,045).
CR's take: While the matte chrome and black-on-parchment or parchment-on-black seats may look cool, they dont add value of this dated model. While some of us still find the 9-5 fun to drive, its interior accommodations are scant, controls are often awkward, and it doesnt have the refinement of more modern designs.
When will it be available? January 2009.
