What is it? Closely resembling the Provoq concept vehicle seen on last years show circuit, the next-generation Cadillac SRX moves from a CTS-shared platform to an all-new architecture. This recast crossover features a more-SUV-like appearance, leaving the wagon proportions to a new CTS variant.

The SRX will come with a 3.0-liter direct injection V6 engine producing about 260 horsepower. The step up engine is a smaller 2.8-liter V6, fitted with a turbocharger. Output is expected to be about 300 horsepower. All-wheel-drive is available with an electronic slip differential to assist the driver in wet or icy conditions. Towing capacity is up to 3,500 pounds.

This five-seat SUV will boast available technologies such as a pop-up navigation screen with three-dimensional display, adaptive lighting, dual-screen rear entertainment system, and power liftgate with an adjustable height settings. Bluetooth connectivity is standard, as is OnStar with turn-by-turn navigation.

Standard safety features include front, side, and side-curtain airbags, rollover sensors, stability control, and OnStar.

When will it be available? Mid-2009.
